Head Coach Turner Gill began his college career playing for the University of Nebraska. Coach Gill was a Heisman Trophy finalist during his senior year. After graduation, Turner Gill spent the next decade coaching for his alma mater.

In 2006, Turner Gill came to the Buffalo Bulls football team as head coach. Although his first season with the team brought a losing record, Coach Gill used 2007 to turn the team around. By the end of 2007, Coach Gill captured the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Award and watched 3 of his players get drafted in the NFL 2007 draft.

In spite of rumors that Turner Gill was leaving the team to re-join the Nebraska Cornhuskers, another coach was hired for that position and Turner Gill's future with the Buffalo Bulls football team is stable.
