Davonte Shannon was raised in Jeannette, Pennsylvania and was born on January 15, 1989.
Davonte Shannon was captain of the Jeannette High School football team where he played wide receiver, flanker, tailback and defensive back. Davonte Shannon made 112 tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery, 35 receptions for 557 yards and eight touchdowns. Davonte Shannon also earned first-team All-Conference honors.
In 2007, Davonte Shannon became #7 on the Buffalo Bulls Roster. During his first career start Davonte Shannon had four solo stops, an interception and three pass breakups while playing at the University of Buffalo Stadium. Davonte Shannon became the first Buffalo Bulls football player Mid-American Conference first-team selection. Davonte Shannon also set a University of Buffalo Football Division 1-A record by recording 123 tackles during his true freshman year. Davonte Shannon recorded 73 solo stops, three interceptions and 10 tackles for loss during the Buffalo Bulls football season.
